Treatment performed for exhibition in Dress, Dreams, Desire: Fashion and Psychoanalysis
This two-piece dress had ineffective historic repairs, but had no other alterations. I completed sewn stabilization on the skirt by removing the old repairs, supporting the exterior silk with large underlays and self-couching stitches, and re-beading the beaded fringe trim. After reversing the repairs an original pocket was uncovered and the original drape was restored.
